As of July 31, 2026, the provision of the following additional licenses has ended, and since August 1, it is no longer possible to host meetings with more than 1,000 participants or webinars with more than 500 participants using Zoom with a UTokyo Account.

Introduction
Zoom is the most widely used web conferencing system at the University of Tokyo.
UTokyo Zoom Account and License
- To sign in to Zoom with UTokyo Zoom accounts, please refer to the “Sign-in Methods for Zoom” page. With your UTokyo Zoom account, you can hold meetings with a maximum duration of 30 hours.
- When using your UTokyo Zoom account, please also refer to “Precautions for using external services managed and operated by Division for Information and Communication Systems”. You may use your UTokyo Zoom account for your own voluntary activities as a member of the University of Tokyo, including study groups and research groups that you organize or participate in.
- The maximum capacity of participants varies depending on whether the meeting host falls into the category “faculty or staff member employed by the university”.
- The limit is 500 participants for “faculty or staff members employed by the university”, and 300 participants for others (such as students and “faculty or staff members not employed by the university”).
- You can check whether you fall into the category “faculty or staff member employed by the university” on the “View Your UTokyo Account User Information” site. For details, please refer to “Changes to the Zoom Service Provided at the University of Tokyo”.
- Large Zoom meetings with a capacity of up to 1,000 participants are available on a limited basis upon application. For details, please refer to the “Additional licenses for Zoom (Large Meetings)” page.
- Please note that the previous provision of additional licenses for large meetings (up to 500 participants) and webinars has been discontinued.
- “Faculty or staff members employed by the university” can host webinars with a capacity of up to 500 participants.
- “Faculty or staff members employed by the university” can use the “Translated Captions” feature in the meetings and webinars they create.
- Going forward, the maximum retention period for cloud recordings will be 3 years. Cloud recordings that are 3 years old will be deleted on the date they reach the 3-year mark and cannot be restored. Please back up any necessary files in advance.
